A major victory for the hemp industry, Governor Brown signed Vote Hemp sponsored legislation Sunday, September 30, 2018, and the law will go into effect January 1, 2019, finally allowing California farmers to enter the rapidly growing hemp industry on a wide scale.
llinois Gov. Bruce Rauner (R) signed a bill to legalize industrial hemp on Saturday, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. The Illinois Industrial Hemp Act takes effect immediately and legalizes the harvesting and use of hemp for paper, fabric, plastics, construction materials, and food.
