By Madeleine Marr
Samuel Reyes was at the right place at the right time.
On Sunday, the Miami man was jogging on the Brickell Key Bridge when he heard cries for help.
A dog had somehow fallen in the water and was struggling to stay afloat.

Without hesitation, Reyes took off his sneakers, climbed over the rail and jumped off the bridge to get the dog. As soon as he hit the water, feet first, the dog paddled toward him.
“I just dropped my phone, my shirt, my sneakers and my AirPods before jumping in,” the accidental hero told the Miami Herald.
You can see the 26-year-old swim toward dry land with the terrified animal tucked safely under his arm.
A woman cries off camera. “Ay!”
Someone else says, “Wow.”
Soon, another man leapt into the water to help.
Once safely on shore, the dog shook off the water while passersby, plus a police officer, helped the two Good Samaritans.
“Muy bien!” says someone off camera once both are on shore. “Excelente!”
Then applause.
What’s it like to save a life?
“It’s a great feeling,” Reyes said, who added that he felt fine despite swallowing a lot of water.
Sounds like the Colombian businessman would do it again in a heartbeat.
On his Instagram stories, Reyes showed video of the rescue along with the caption, “Don’t let the mind tell your heart what to do. Your mind gives up much too easily.”
On Reyes’ Instagram page reads this New Testament verse: “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
