A beautiful act of kindness by a group of Bellevue students moved their teacher to tears and is going viral nationwide.
Around two weeks ago, Logan Fontenelle Middle School teacher Trey Payne had an expensive pair of basketball shoes stolen from his classroom.
A group of his students were upset by what had happened. They pooled their money together and brought Payne a new set of shoes to replace the stolen pair.
Video of Payne being surprised with the shoes is heartwarming. The teacher begins to tear up as he reads the card.
"I hope this isn't shoes guys...Oh my...are you serious?" he is heard saying, stunned.
He takes his glasses off and begins to cry as the kids rush around him for a group hug.
"It's more than a pair of shoes," Payne said. "It's about doing things to build everyone up around you. I try to show my kids this and I think the lesson has sunk in for many, in turn, reaffirming my purpose and my ideals."
Students have raved about Payne.
"He’s helped when other teachers would not give me the time. He’s always so kind to everyone and is super nice. He always makes coming to class enjoyable and treats everyone with respect," Carmine Hirko told KETV.
